why do i have to increase the height of my fonts from 100 to 150 to make them look normal.

Or at the very least meaningful screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, Character, …) visible. 

Did you at any point transform the Type Layer in question?

It sounds like you have already checked the Character panel?

So the neext step would be to reset the Type tool

I will definately check that as the problem persist on anyt and all files new or otherwise.. worse comes to worse I guess I can allways uninstal and reinstal phototshop.
