Frozen docs, can't save, can't update PS or even Uninstall... please help

I have tried saving the last 3 docs I was working on and they all froze. I can't save them. I can't close them either. I tried doing an update, but it won't let me unless these docs are closed. I also tried uninstalling the entire program... again won't let me unless these docs are closed. Can anyone help? Thanks!!
