I can't' see 'generative fill' anywhere! I'm a Photoshop expert, and I've tried EVERY tool, including every selection tool, updated to latest version, made selections, messed with layer properties, etc. There is the/a "contextual tool bar" under the cursor, but it has no option for generative fill (in any context!). This must just be a temporary bug they are working on, right?

EDIT: In September 2023 Adobe released Photoshop 2025, which includes Generative Fill. This thread is now locked because the information from August is now obsolete. Please start a new thread if you have a similar question.

Generative Fill is not in Photoshop. It is in the public beta so it can be tested for bugs before being added to the released version. You can download the Beta version of Photoshop from the Creative Cloud app and keep both installed.

To add to what @jane-e already explained:

It is a Beta feature, so should you install the Photoshop Beta version and have problems with the »Generative Fill«-feature or be dissatisfied with the results don’t post about that here but on the Beta Forum.
