Using Photshop 24.4.1 Bridge 13.0.3.693 and Windows 10
Selecting 2 jpeg files in Bridge and use open in photoshop layers and in Photoshop
get a flikkering screen - to stop this flikker I exit without saving, then get the pop up window with:
Some files seleted in Bridge are no compatible and will be skipped.
Same happens if I choose photomerge in Bridge.
I found the solution in Photoshop - edit-preferences-performance and turn of " use graphics processor"
or revert Photoshop to version 24.2

Try enabling "Deactivate Native Canvas" in General Preferences and restarting Photoshop; better?

Try "older GPU mode" in Preferences.
I thought this was just a subset of "deactivate native canvas" - but it is the official recommendation for flickering canvas. Anyway, can't hurt to try.
Maybe the reason it didn't work is that you didn't restart Photoshop?
