Hi,
Could someone clear up my confusion with file size please...
My aim is to print my artwork at 24x36 inches at the best quality.
I need to keep the image size below 20mb for upload restrictions for the site I am using.
So I open a photo of my artwork in PS. Change image size to 24x36. 300dpi.
I use a template in Illustrator (more use to using AI). The image then opens up 124x150 inches?
Why is this happening?
Thanks for any help.

Illustrator is a vector program so the image is coming in at 72 ppi which ~triples the size.
Why are you placing the artwork in AI? You should be able to save directly from Photoshop without issue.
BTW a base 24x36 inch image at 300 ppi = 7200 x 10800 px. That equates to a 225 mb document.
Saving as a tif with compression should get you under that threshold depending on the complexity of the image.

Thanks for the help.
I understand what's happening now...
I have been using 'export as' rather than 'save as' or 'save a copy'. I am now saving a jpg at around 30 mb from PS.
I am using several artboards in AI as I find it easier than artboards in PS, and then export the artboards from AI to give the required less than 20mb files.

HI @hemmickreef is there any reason you are bringing these into AI - are you adding elements to these?
Have you tried using Artboards in Photoshop instead?
