Grey box glitch while painting

On the 24.4.1 version of Photoshop

iMac, macOS Ventura 13.3.1

Graphics AMD Radeon Pro 5300 4 GB (thought I'd include that incase that has something to do with the problem)

Does anyone have a clue what is going on here? These boxes appear while I'm painting, I can sometimes make them go away by toggling layer visibility off and on again but it always comes back. It's happened in multiple files but is never visible when exporting the artwork.

Hi @Louise25898255l56b

Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and enable “Older GPU mode (pre 2016)” - Restart Photoshop. Does the problem persist?

Hi there, there was nothing labelled “Older GPU mode (pre 2016)” in Technology Previews that I could see, but there was 'Deactivate Native Canvas' that I'd seen another post reccomend. Either way I tried it and the problem is still happening unfortunately.

Our mistake @Louise25898255l56b the suggestion we gave was a Win only one... we will do better. Have you checked this for GPU issues?
