[HELP!] Could not open "File name.psd" because the file is locked

New Here ,
Jul 23, 2024 Jul 23, 2024

Please could someone please kindly help me? I am on Windows 10 and I couldn't find any solutions online so far.

Today when I open my file that I have been working on for weeks with no issue, suddenly it prompted me the error message below:

This is the only file that I can't open so far after trying about 10 other PSD on my computer. I have tried reboot, having Photoshop up to date, changing file names, opening photoshop and this file as administrator, making sure in the Security tab under File property that I( the only user on this computer) has full access to this file.

Error message 3.jpg

Error message 4.jpg

I can not do any other function to this file either such as moving it to a different place, compressing it, or copy. It will prompt the message below. I have also gotten another error message that I didn't know how to prompt again, but it was saying that user DESKTOP-EB00JBF has to give you permission to access this file.

Error message 2.jpg

Please kindly let me know if there are any questions that could help with troubleshooting, or if you have any suggestions or solutions. Thank you so much and have a great day!

Hey,Jonathan3876871495ka! Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need a few more details to help you figure this out.

What version of Photoshop are you working on? Did you move file to any disk? Please share the File System from right-click on the disk then properties and then share the screenshot of the File system.

You can try to move the file to another folder and then try to copy it.

Regards,

Shivani

Hello! Thank you for the welcome. The last time I used the file my photoshop 2024 was at version 25.91. I have not move this PSD to anywhere and now It doesn't even let me move it. I have tried a few solutions like trying to move or duplicate this file on save mode, tighten the drive's sata cable.

Check the File System on this screenshot.

That file and/or your drive may have corruption. It may also be shared and in use by someone else.

Is your computer name DESKTOP-EB00JBF? And B drive used to be a floppy disk, is this on a network?

My B drive is a floppy disk, not on a network. DESKTOP-EB00JBF is my computer name.

You do not have a 216MB file on a floppy disk.

Please try to copy the appropriate psd - file to another drive with a letter C or higher. Don't use drives with the letter A or B.

Then check again.
