How can I get rid of the gray border that appears when I place an image?

Whenever I place an image into a file, I get a gray border around the file's window (the thick line under "Untitled-1" in the screenshot). I handle lots of files at once, and this gets pretty distracting -- is there any way to turn it off?

Which version of Photoshop you are using on Windows? File > Place Embedded is in use or drag and drop?
