Hi @mikufan2, welcome to the community!
Could you share a few more details about the issue you're seeing? It would be super helpful to know which version of Photoshop you're using. Also, when you get a chance, please check that your graphics card drivers are fully up to date.
If possible, could you also share your System Info? You can find it in Photoshop under Help > System Info. Just copy it into a text file and attach it to your reply, or share it via Google Drive, WeTransfer, or any file-sharing service you prefer.
Thanks so much!
Alek

Do you mean the blue square paths which indicate the paths used by the shapes? They can be filled and stroked or as shown in your second screenshot, can have no fill and stroke, just the path. A path only does not appear in your printed or exported artwork, it is just an indicator of where it is so that you can use it.

These rectangle shaped paths can be independant of the layers panel but will appear in the paths panel, as a working path, which allows you to make them into shapes whenever you choose. That independance means that they will still be shown regardless of which layer is selected. You can delete them by making sure the path is shown in the paths panel, going to the canvas, and selecting it with the path selection tool (black arrow) then pressing delete (ignore the warning that it will turn a live shape into a regular path).

I've had this happen to me before, although I don't remember what I did for it go away, I think I went to the paths panel and deleted path layers until it disappeared but I'm not too sure. I really just wanted to say that I could feel and see your frustration through your mouse and the clicking.. and I understand it, that's all. Lol
