How to align to the guide

Hey,

 

Is it possible to align a layer to a guide ?

 

I know that it's possible to align a layer to a selection / canva, what about the guide ?

You can snap pixels to the guide with the move tool (not the same thing as align, but the same end result).

What if thre is more than one guide? How would the software know which guide? 

 

As the move tool will snap the layer pixels to the guide, what advantage does alignment bring? As a marquee selection can snap to a guide and then be used to align the layer content, what advantage would this bring apart from not having to create a selection and deselect afterwards?
