I added a hue/saturation adjustment layer and then a mask but any changes effect the whole layer. How to just change saturation based on a selection?

Thanks. It seemed to be as simple as making a selection and with that active createing a new hue/satuartion adjustment layer which automatically got the mask of the selection. I don't know why I didn't see that before. Thank you for your answer anyway.
