How to remove background, and only keep foreground?

I have and image which I have removed the background from. Put when I insert this image in word, the background is white. The only way I then can remove the background is to crop the image. But the foreground is a person, so I'm not able to crop the image in angles.

Not sure if I'm able to explain my self here.

I want to have only the person, like I printed a picture, and then cut around the person with a scissor.

Which PNG? Medium file size.

Psd, gif or tiff didn't help.

png-8 or png-24?

I am not a Word user, so by now the question seems to be: Does Word support images formats with transparency at all?

I don't know if it is png-8 or png-24. Can't find out. It is possible that Word doesn't support transparancy. I need to investigate this.

Looks like I need to export the image in PNG, and in Word put the image "in front of text". That way the image is transparent.
