Huge RAM usage Photoshop

So lately when I used my Photoshop, it used huge RAM. Just opening the app without opening any files at all took around 3GB of RAM.

When I open a file with only 10 layers it starts using 6GB of RAM.

This doesn't happen to any of my friends Photoshop. I was forced to upgrade my RAM from 16GB to 32GB because of this.

I'm afraid the RAM usage will be worse than now in the future. Can anyone help me? Is it my laptop or the Photoshop?

Laptop Spesifications:

HP Omen 16

Intel i7-11800H (2.30GHz)

SSD 1.5TB

RAM 32GB

Hi @antoniaamelia thats pretty normal for PS and depends completely on the processes and files you are working on. The bigger and more complex the file - the more RAM it will use.

Just sitting idle with no documents open - mine stays around 2 GB RAM usage.

Comparing with other users is maddening. Unless they are exactly the same setup as you they will vary.

If you arent experiencing out of memory errors in PS, I would ignore.
