Your computer must meet the minimum specifications in order to install Photoshop. These often get updated with each new version of Photoshop. So, if an old version of Photoshop installs but a newer one does not, it means something about your machine is no longer within the specifications. Check your system against what we have documented here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/system-requirements.html

It may be possible to update your machine to meet the specifications.

Note the Recommended system requirements in the link from Brett, especially these first three:

  Minimum Recommended
Processor Multicore Intel® or Apple Silicon processor ARM-based Apple Silicon processor
Operating system macOS v12*, v13, v14, v15

macOS Sonoma (version 14.6.1)

cannot be installed on macOS v11.x (Big Sur) or earlier

RAM 8 GB  16 GB or more
AVX Intel or AMD CPUs having AVX2 support

Apple has changed their OS quite a few times resulting in requiring us to buy new computers to run current software. Your 16 year old computer is unlikely to run current versions of Photoshop.

Yes, you will need a newer computer if you want to run Photoshop. Pay attention to the Recommended System Requirements.

If you installed a trial version, then cancel it before the 7 days are up and before it rolls into an annual commitment. If you purchased a subscription then you can cancel without penalty within 14 days. Don't wait to cancel; do it now.

@pr_0414 I know exactly what you mean.... I have a PC that has Photoshop 2025, but, I prefer to work on my MacBoook Pro instead, but because of the OS, I can only use Photoshop 2024 or below. There was a new tool in Photoshop which was the 'Remove Tool'. Instead, I have tried the online version of Photoshop for that, and it worked better than what I can imagine! Sure, you be working online, but, this could save you a few bucks until the sales are on again!

You need a new computer. My old 2012 iMac won't run Photoshop anymore.
