I can't seem to undo in select and mask in Photoshop

If i undo the whole layer just goes off.

cmd-Z seems to work here in the Select and Mask-space. 

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible to clarify?
