It's very possible that you do not have enough scratch space on your computer. This is a common cause of slowdowns. The solution is to get an external drive (250gb or more) and select it on Photoshops prefrences as the scratch disk. Don't use this disk for anything else other that working space for Photoshop to use duting it's operations and that will solve your problem.
