I really need help - pen cursor issue

Hi everyone,

I'm having issues with my pen tool. The cursor stays as a brush cursor and I have NO accuracy when it comes to the anchor points. Why won't the cursor change to its correct cursor for the tool you're working with?? It's REALLY burdensome. Can someone help me find a way to either....re-calibrate the cursors or figure out what the issue is so I can fix it and continue with my work?

Does it help if you press Caps Lock to get the precision cursor? You can also change the look of the cursor in Preferences > Cursors.
