iMac keeps crashing - Crash report says "Full Panic"

After purchasing a new iMac it keeps crashing repeatedly when using Photoshop.
I have been many rounds with both Apple and Adobe support (Norway). Both have admin my iMac

 

Apple

  • checked settings adobe software + iMac
  • delivered crash reports
  • delivered to support -> 5 days stress test = Approved

Conclusion: Software related issue

 

Adobe

  • Installed support´s version of CC
  • Checked settings in software

 

Myself

  • Rolled back versions
  • Wiped machine twice (type hard reset with HDD formatting)
  • Only non-native software: Adobe

 

Reaching out here for help. I see many struggle with software itself, but my machine goes black and must reboot. Very anoying when working as a designer/developer. It´s like a Carpenter´s hammer gets tossed to the moon, and need to drive to the store and buy a new one. Like 15-20 times a day, EVERY DAY!

my imac is with the technician to check if there is any cpu, gpu memory hardware problem and he did not find any hardware problem. this problem only happens with photoshop

As I said, applications cannot cause restarts in modern operating systems. There are insulating layers to prevent that. But they can trigger it. The underlying problem is a driver or hardware.

My two cents - The posters on here are right - it is hardware related.

I had a similar issue with a previous Mac (since replaced) that had Full Panic crashes. The issue is your GPU failing. Photoshop or another program that accesses the GPU will cause the card to flake out and cause the Kernal Panic crash.

The issue with Mac specifically is the graphics card is hardwired to the motherboard, so you can't replace just that component. I took my M1 mini in to the Apple store twice to resolve, once they replaced the motherboard the second time they said it wasn't hardware related. I called BS and returned it and got a Mac Studio. No issues since.
