I choose 'my pictures' and then nothing happens!

Hey, @davidb62217921. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. We've moved the post to discussions; I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Please share the screenshots & system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here.

The description is not sufficient at this point. Does dragging & dropping images from the folders to the application work as expected?

Thanks!
Sameer K

Just to be clear, you don't "import" files into Photoshop. You just open them.

Please describe exactly what you are doing, and exactly what type of files and where they were made/where they come from.

Thank you.    I hadn't expected to get a reply!  Yes I did use wrong phraseology and appreciate it is a mirror image of the original.  Eventually Adobe technical support was able to resolve the issue, but it ook them and hour and a half, and left me with many grey images I had to delete from Lightroom as they had clearly lost the link to the original.  Also I had to reimport about 400 images that had reverted to the date I scanned them, not when i took them and had chnged them to in LR Classic.  But at least it is now workign again.  Best wishes,  David

Reported as spam.

In any case, the OP didn't mention he was using Lightroom Classic. That changes the whole question and the issue is completely different from what was described. This was a Lightroom Classic issue where the "edit in" link from Lightroom to Photoshop was broken. The cure for that is a reinstall.
