Install Problems Photoshop cs5 Mac

Hi, I just downloaded the trial of photoshop Cs5 and ones the install comes end I get this messege:

and so it says that the photoshop did not install. I restart computer and tried to install with no other programs working and so on, and still got the messege.

I have Intel Mac with Mac Os X 10.6.3 Intel 2.5ghz 4gb ram.

Any help???

I'm having problems installing where I get to the end of installation 99% and it says to close safari to continue, when I have done this and press continue nothing is happeniing. I have restarted my computer, closed all programs, ect. Any ideas on what to do next?

Try renaming that file to some other file name. If you can then rename it and try the install again.

Ok, I burned the file to dvd and install again. I saw the same as image file, when it get to 98% it take out the dvd ( or image ) and then get the final error.

We were able to reproduce the issue on our machine. Actual problem was "Adobe Unit Types.osax" was already kept at the location /Library/ScriptingAdditions as a file and not as a folder. It can happen if one tries to copy file using terminal.

Now the installer then tries to create a folder of same name on that location and it fails resulting in exact same error observed by you. As a workaround delete that file and run the Photoshop installer again. Your installer issue will be resolved by that.

This fix did not resolve my problem. the Installer bombs before this file is ever written...not sure what to do now. It's not a permissions problem, tried installing with a new user, another user, and root user. nothing works on this imac. arg.

PS. does anyone have the link for a CS5 remover tool, or can I use the old one? thx!

Oops, I just realized that I put the new "Adobe Unit Types.osax" mentioned above in the wrong folder.

I replaced the existig /Library/ScriptingAdditions/Adobe Unit Types.osax from 2003 with the new version ( http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/516/cpsid_51615.html ) now and it worked like a charm.

No, there is no log written there, just the old CS4 log. I don't think the install gets that far. Thx for trying, but keep playing:)

It seems your installer is corrupt due to download issue. Logs must be created in this location /Users/[User Name]/Library/Logs/ PDApp.log

Try to run setup one more time and then send this log file to my email address.

yeah!! after i turned on comp this am, i started to download trail again and it is allowed me in!!!!!! Don't know how or why, i've tried for 3 days now. Maybe because today is my 41st bday and the damn adobe new I was about to kick it in the monitor if it didn't work again!! Oh well, one prob down, how many more to go???

Thanks for trying to help. Will most likely need it once I start playing with this latest version.

Thx again Anshum, but the installer can't be corrupt, as I used the same installer successfully on another machine (MBP) and on another bootable harddrive on this machine, an iMac. It's something with this particular instance of OSX on the internal hardrive. I am thinking of backing everything up (using CCC) and then formatting the internal again to rule that out.

ps. Sorry if this is getting mixed in with the OP.

I'm trying to install the trial on my 10.5.7 machine with no success. The installer spoofs at around 100% completion, and then I try to launch Ps but it doesn't even show the slpash screen and crashes. Uninstaller doesnt work either, it hangs and crashes.

Same with Master Collection trial.

Does CS5 really support 10.5.7 ?

I would manually select the each of the folders /Library/ScriptingAdditions/Adobe Unit Types.osax/Contents and make sure you have access to read and write to the directories using Get Info and try and reinstall.
