I am in the printing business and sometimes I have this issue when I save a file. I create a rgb document. 72dpi and save it as a tiff with default settings. No compression, interleaved pixel order etc...
This time I was saving a fairly large file, but I did save it as a separate tiff file without layers since I was ready to print it. I opened it in versaworks (my rip software) and it had these colorful artifacts block. Literally looks like the colors get inverted in those blocks. I checked the thumbnail in explorer and it had the same artifacts. I did not try to open this file back to photoshop, but a few times I had issues with another file that is saved with layers. Small file. Print is only the size of a door. I have to change the phone number on it since It's for a franchisee, so I print it every other month and sometimes this inverted color block shows up at the same spot!! There is nothing there in the layers. No hidden layers, and the block shows up at a random spot. In both cases saving the file again fixes the issue, I hate to admit it, but I have already missed this twice and had to reprint the doors. Now. When it comes to this bus wrap, I would probably lose big money if I missed it. Luckily in this case the issue was super apparent, but if it had a line across that I couldn't see on the small window in the rip window, I would be in real trouble.
1 image is off of the thumbnail in explorer. The other one is from the rip software.
Forgot to mention, but the files are saved directly to a local NAS server.

It's possible there's some kind of corruption happening while saving directly to the NAS, but that's just a guess. First thing I would try is to start saving to the local drive then copying the fully saved file over.
You could test by saving the TIFF file a bunch of times to see if it happens at a somewhat predictable rate. Then try doing the same thing to the local drive and see if it still does it.

Do not save directly to the NAS! Save to local drive, then copy over.
Saving directly to external storage, and especially over a network connection (with all the extra layers of drivers and protocols) carries a very real risk of file corruption or even lost files.

I hear you... Luckily, in 7 years I never had a total file corruption. I hope it never happens, but I am going to be honest in would be a pain in the @$$ (for me) to save everything on the local disk all the time then copy them over. This is the 2nd time it ever happened and file is recoverable. So it won't open with the artifact issues. It opens normal and once I save it again the issue goes away. I wonder if it happens because of a specific reason. The first file it happened with, is a file that I print every month and I have to change the phone number on the graphics for every new franchisee. The same issue occurred a few times with this file alone. The colorful blocks come back the same exact location every time. Weird. Nothing in the graphics around that area that can corrupt, like a hidden layer or something. That's why I wonder if it's happening to specific files for a specific reason. Now it happened to another file and thats why I made the post.
I have 1 tb of 250.000 files. Only had issues a few times only with 2 files. Well.. basically 3. The first issue I had was a door for a van. I had issues with both pass and driver side which is basically the same file but mirrored except the phone number and logo. Both file had the same issue at the same place. Again.. that's why I think something inside the file makes it corrupt. w-e-i-r-d..

It's even more of a pain to not follow Adobe's advice and end up with corrupted files. Be aware that you are taking a risk.
