Issue with Layer Mask Not Updating Correctly in Photoshop CC 2024

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently encountered a frustrating issue in Photoshop CC 2024. When applying a layer mask, the mask doesn't seem to update properly. Even after painting with the brush tool to hide or reveal parts of the layer, the changes don’t reflect immediately on the canvas.

I’ve tried the following, but the issue persists:

  • Resetting the brush tool.
  • Changing the layer opacity and flow.
  • Restarting Photoshop and my computer.
  • Ensuring that the layer mask is selected and active.

Sometimes it works after toggling between different layers, but it's inconsistent. Has anyone else experienced this issue, or is there a workaround that I might have missed?

Looking forward to any insights or solutions. Thanks in advance!

Hi! Thanks for reaching out and sharing the issue. Did this behavior start randomly with the current version? Is there a chance the brush blend mode was accidentally changed? Resetting the brush settings shouldn't affect that.
