P: Weird lines remain after resizing, drawing and other things

Hi, for awhile now I've had a problem where any time I resize a layer, draw a shape or anything like that lines are left behind.

This just started happening one day I assume after some kind of update.

You can see what I mean by looking at the screenshot here:

https://ibb.co/8Bb8mtH

If I zoom in or out those lines all disappear but that gets really annoying and if I'm resizing a bunch of layers things really start to get messy in my document.

How can I stop this from happening?

I'm on Windows 10 if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and check "Disable Native Canvas" - then restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur?

The first file I try to open with v23 looks like horizontal lines, like in the picture below:

ps2.jpg

This happens for all the file formats I've tried: png, jpg, tif.

I had no issue at all with the same files on v22.5.2. Below v22.5.2 opening the same image:

ps22.jpg

Anybody has any idea why this is happening ?

This is a workaround and does not address the error, it might be an error with the drivers of your video card / GPU.

If you would like more insight ...  in Photoshop, select Help > System Info.

  1. In the System Info dialog, click Copy.
  2. Attach or copy the info here to this thread.

@Suby81 , your GPUs are on the old side and use APIs that are unstable (certainly to be not working in the near future). That workaround you are using is dropping Photoshop back to the old ways of handling the GPU, but both major operating system venders are actively promoting either DirectX or Metal, to the detriment of the former 'shared' GPU APIS.

Put another way, it's time for new hardware. The Radeon GPU you have is about 1/4 as fast as it needs to be to run Photoshop (should be a score of 2000 or better here: https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/directCompute.html), and things will only get worse from here on out.

Photoshop 22.2 from last year runs using the older GPU APIs, and you could use that version as long as it makes sense, but the newer features that come with more recent versions of Photoshop are going to demand more GPU resources than that system can handle.

@kavi1 if you get a chance, could you copy/paste the info from Photoshop > Help > System Info, and share? An up to date GPU should be able to handle this; Older GPUs with out of date drivers might choke in this way.
