L channel

Hello. Where did the secret select L-channel command go? I want to select the luminance channel within any color space, like before. There used to be a simple command. I thought I refound it, but the shortcut selects the green channel. I know I can make a script, but the command was a central component to my workflow in other scripts. Official query is where'd it go?

Do you mean Lightness channel? If so, you will see it when you are working in Lab mode.

L: Lightness

A: a channel

B: b channel

Or do you mean a Luminosity mask?

If you mean select the Luminosity then it's Option+Cmd+2 (mac) Alt+Ctrl+2 (windows)

I've never heard of this shortcut so I was curious about where to find it in the menus/panels.

Putting my findings here for anybody interested...

Alt+Ctrl+2 will Select the Composite Channel.

It will work in all color modes and is the same as Ctrl clicking on the RGB channel in the Channels Panel, the CMYK channel in CMYK mode, the LAB channel in LAB mode, etc.

Unless I've missed it, the shortcut/ menu item does not appear in the Keyboard Shortcuts window or in the Channels panel. 

Out of curiosity I tried allocating the Alt+Ctrl+2 shortcut to a random other option via Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts.

Photoshop gave a warning stating that is Alt+Ctrl+2 allocated to "Select Composite Channel" and can not be allocated to another thing.

So... Pretty cool obscure shortcut! 😄

Here's my obscure shortcut in return to say thank you: 🙂

If you have an active selection, press and hold Shift, go to Select, click "Select and Mask..." You'll get the old refine edge dialog which can be better in some scenarios.
