Last two updates are punishing my laptop

The last couple of updates have all but completely locked up my computer. Granted it's not the newest laptop ever, but I was running totally fine on this 2018 Macbook Pro until just the other day.

Now my entire system kicks up the kernel_task to 600% whenever photoshop is running.

Anybody else experiencing this? I also run a €12,000 2020 Mac Pro and it's running slower than ever on that thing too. What's going on?

If your computer is old, it's probably best not to update CC apps. Or at least, not delete the old apps when updating, just in case.
