Hey,

I'm having trouble using the layer mask button. I have selected the object correctly, and it has always worked before, but it's not working anymore. I have the latest update (24.4.1) and have tried restarting several times. It worked when I used the top bar for a while, but it stopped working after a couple of minutes. Has anyone experienced the same issue and have a possible solution?

If something in Photoshop is working erratically, it could be a case of corrupt settings.

Save your Workspace, and give it  a name, then go into Preferences > General and click on the "Reset Preferences on Exit"

Restart Photoshop and you will have the Essentials Workspace. Now you can go into Window menu > Workspace to return to your old workspace settings. I hope that fixes your Layer Mask issue.

Can you check to see which layer is active?

A screenshot that includes your workspace, Layers panel, Toolbar with the selection tool you used selected, and the options bar for the Selection tool will help us to see what you see.
