No matter what I do, since I updated to the latest Adobe CC photoshop, layer masks will not remove the content entirely, but leaves a halo tranpsarent effect on artwork.
Check your brush colour. It is not quite black in that video i.e. RGB 0,0,0

I'm having same issue. I was on hold with tech support for 2 hours and no resolution. He told me I was doing something wrong.

This solved the problem for me. Even though it looked like my brush was black, it wasn't 100% (RGB 0,0,0) so wasn't hiding 100% of the pixels. I reset my brush to the default black/white swatches and didn't have any more issues.
