Linked files from Illustrator come in with default subbed out text

When I link an text Illustrator file into Photoshop, it shows up with the wrong font. It's subbed out to something different. File shows just fine in Illustrator. It seems that this may of happened just after the most recent update? It used to work just fine. 

Any help would be appreciated!

What are the Illustrator Clipboard Handling Preferences? 

Does this happen only on pasting or also when placing?

It happens only when placing as a linked file. When I copy/paste as a smart object into photoshop the font shows just fine. Here are the clipboard preferences!

If pasting works fine anyway that setting isn’t an issue here. 

Are you placing ai or pdf? 

Could you provide one such file?

I actually just tried a test with a brand new document and it worked. So something must of happened with my original working file. Thanks for your help!
