Liquify only works in older versions.

Liquify only works in older versions. I already tried, Go to Edit/preferences/performance and untick 'Use Graphics Processor'. but it was grayed out so I could not choose this option. If I roll back to an older version of PS liquify works fine. Doing that is a pain in the butt. Any idea why this is happening?  Thanks!
