Looping gifs

I have often made GIFs and set them to play forever - but now it's only playing for 500 frames, even though I have it set to loop forever. The GIF is 40 seconds long and should keep turning but it's simply stopping at 500 frames... can anyone help? Thx

Is it site specific?  Or are you talking about playing with a particular app on a PC?

They're to go on a Cargo site. But they stop at 500 frames wherever I try them (Squarespace too). I have got round it by making the GIF shorter but I kinda wanted it to last a bit longer and have not had this issue in the past.
