I have one user, it's been replicated on 2 machines.

we haven't upgraded to Monterey yet.

Standard is Mac Os 10.14.6

Photothop 2021 we just upgraded too, version 22.5.5

Nvidea Video card with 8 Gigs of ram.

64 Gigs of ram on the mac.

1TB HD.

This person is using a mouse or wacom.

When he zooms in - the app freezes, and all he can do is save that file, and then reopen it. The other files  ( 3 /4  at a time) are all working and the tools work with in the other files, IF he then creates a Silo in a second file, then that file then freezes, and all he can do is Save  the file.

**went through the photosthop troubleshooting guide 3 times - the issue is still present.

I have reseated his ram -  -- issue is still present.

I will next create a new user account on his mac to see if the issue happens again.

**

are there any other  solutions or anyone else having this issue without the standard Adobe ( upgrade to the latest version ) which can't be done in mos business environments due to internal tools and work flows.

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop. Please try disabling the option to Use Graphics Processor from Photoshop by going to Preferences, then Performance. Once done, relaunch Photoshop to check if that helps.

Regards,

Nikunj

When Photoshop crashes or freezes, this is the first thing to do, try resetting your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings. You can also reset preferences upon a quit if Photoshop is running by going into General Preferences>General>Reset on Quit.

If that doesn't work, a few other areas to try:

  • Go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Multithreaded Compositing - and restart Photoshop. Better?

If that doesn't work, Go back into Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop. Better?

@TheDigitalDog -  We did not have the option to uncheck multithreaded under performance.

GPU disabled did not resolve this issue either.

** resetting his prefrences works for about 30 minutes, and then the issue recurs.

Try logging into another account (you may need to make one), still crashing?
Try starting up in Safe mode (hold down Shift Key when booting), still crashing?

There may be some issue with the file getting corrupted.
You might want to try running a free utility like Onyx: still crashing?
