Magenta cast

Magenta Cast - I'd been printing from Ps for about a year, when a few month ago I started getting a strong magenta cast both in the preview and the actual print. I have read all the posts so far on the topic and nothing has solved the problem. I am not double profiling. I usually let the printer manage the colour and I set the colour adjustment to driver matching. But I have since tried to let Ps manage the colour and matching the colour adjustment accordingly. I've also tried using the paper ICC profile. Nothing works either in PS or LR. I am using Windows10, latest version of both PS and LR and Canon Pro10 printer. I have the latest driver and firmware for the printer. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled it.  If I bypass these editors and just send the picture to the printer from the desktop, I don't have this problem, but the colours are not consistent. Sometimes they are very close to what I see on screen and sometimes they turn cooler or greener.  I am pretty much at my wits end. I wish at least I knew if it was a problem with the printer or something else in my system.

You should always test output using good color reference images designed for that task. The color reference images RGB values are such they are set for output and are editing and display agnostic. Test the output this way and examine for the same color issues so we know it's not your image specific issues causing the problems:

Do you see issues with this test file outside of Photoshop?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have done this with a different reference
image.
I just tried with this one too and the same thing is happening.
Forgot to mention that the darker the image the more noticable the magenta.
On a white curtain is not as noticable, skin tones are horrible.

Yes, they are. And why would there be a difference then depending on where
I am printing from (Ps vs desktop)?

If the issue only shows in PS, try resetting the printer settings there.

  1. Quit Photoshop if running.
  2. Relaunch Photoshop and open the file that you want to print.
  3. Click on the File menu and go to Print. ...
  4. Now press and hold the Spacebar key for a few seconds.
  5. This should reset the Printer Preferences for Photoshop.

I am still trying to resolve this issue. Have talked to Canon and it's clear that the issue is not with the

printer. I am trying to print from a different computer. Would you mind resending the test image please?

thanks

PRINT ISSUES:

IF it’s a MAC, reset printing system:

On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners

Press and hold the Control key as you click in the list at the left, then choose “Reset printing system” from the menu that appears.

After you reset the printing system, the list of printers in Printers & Scanners preferences is empty.

Reinstall the print driver, only from the manufacturer, not Apple.

Here is some general Adobe [Mac and Win] info on printing problems,

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-printing-problems.html

Simple reset: hold the space bar when you open the print window. It resets the print dialogs

if that doesn’t help -

Perhaps try resetting Photoshop preferences?

Resetting restores Photoshop's internal preferences, which are saved when Photoshop closes. If they become corrupt then various issues can occur.

Here’s some info on how to do that:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html

And

https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/quick-tips-how-to-reset-photoshop-pre...

You may want to backup your settings and your custom presets, brushes & actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences.

Here is general info that:  https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#BackupPhotoshoppreferences

Also take a look at the following article and check if that helps:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/printing-color-management-photoshop1.html

Preferences file location: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/preference-file-names-locations-photoshop.html

It may even be time to reinstall Photoshop.

Its recommended that you use the Adobe CC cleaner tool to remove all traces first.

Uninstall Photoshop BUT make sure to choose the option “Yes, remove app preference”.

Once that process finishes, start the installation process and look into the “Advanced Options”. Uncheck “Import previous settings and preferences” and choose to “Remove old versions”.

I hope this helps

I'll try the Adobe CC cleaner tool to remove traces of PS and Lr, that's the only thing I haven't done yet.

Are you using "Photoshop Manages Color" and an accurate printer profile?

You may like to try test with a Canon manufactured paper that’s listed under media options in the Canon driver.

Here is what another 10 days of struggles resulted in:

It is obvious that there is nothing wrong with the printer. It prints perfectly fine when I am printing straight from the computer. My troubles start when I try to print from Lr or Ps on MY computer. Now I have tried printing from another computer with the exact same settings from Lr or Ps and it is also fine. Although there is a tiny bit more red in the test image if sent from Lr as opposed to being printed straight from the computer.

I have cleared out all remnants of previous versions of Ps and Lr from my computer and reinstalled the latest versions of both.

So, I figure there must be something wrong with my computer, although I cannot imagine what or what to do about it.

Here is my computer system info:

Device name DESKTOP-3A9816D
Processor AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor 4.00 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (23.9 GB usable)
Device ID F7B34004-AADC-41C4-AA39-D2B24501836C
Product ID 00330-80000-00000-AA292
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 21H2
Installed on ‎2021-‎04-‎12
OS build 19044.1526
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4170.0

Does this help? Would anyone have any ideas on solutions?

So other app's, OK, problem with PS and LR on that one machine.

Let's try just one: PS. Can you provide a screen capture of the PS Print Window/dialog AND all the settings used in the print driver. The later is probably all fine, that works outside PS. But worth checking on.

So in the last screen capture, you have Printer Manages Color, not Application Manages color. Plus you've selected a printer profile. You want Photoshop Manages Color, and that profile selected if indeed, that is the proper paper profile.

I'm on a Mac, different printer but you want this (more or less):

Yes, I've tried every possible combination and it does not make any difference.

Like I select printer manages colors and then driver matching; or select Ps manages colour and the correct profile (in this case Pro luster).  Or Ps manages colour and then none for matching. None of these make any difference.

Which one?  You mean that the Printer manages colour and right under it the Luster profile? I know it doesn't show on the picture, but it is not active. I cannot do anything with it when the Printer manages colour is selected.

You don't want Printer Manages Color. You want Photoshop Manages Color and then select the correct paper profile. And the drivers must be correctly configured for those PS settings.
