Masks bug

Community Beginner ,

Hi guys! I would like to report 2 bugs:

1. When I use select and mask, everithing that I change in the settings isn't visible even if the option "preview" is selected. It just become effective when I press OK button. Also if I'm going to add or take off selection using the brush if doesn't do anything in the preview, it just has effect when i press OK.

2. In the level mask if I want to cut off portions of the image from the mask I should use the brush in white mode. In real what's happening is that in this case the revealing image looks like at 80% opacity. Also the image already not-hidden by the mask loose opacity.

Hey, @Jody Parisi. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Before troubleshooting, update Photoshop to the latest version (v25.6) via the Creative Cloud desktop app & check if the issue exists.

I'll move this to Discussions for now. In the Select & Mask interface, press the OPT key to change the 'Cancel' button to 'Reset' & check how it goes. If this does not help, try these steps:

Go to the location of the preference folder mentioned below and rename it to back up. (https://adobe.ly/3u7u84j)
macOS: Hold down the Option key in the Finder when using the Go menu. The library will appear below the current user's home directory.

Library > Preferences > Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings

Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2024 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2024.old)

This will give a fresh start to Photoshop as a new installation.

Let me know if it helps. Thanks!
Sameer K

Could you please post screenshots taken at View > 100% with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible?
