Does anyone know why I am suddenly getting this result with my mixer brush using any tool? In this example I used the soft round brush with the mixer brush. The paint well is clean and turned off; Sample All Layers is off; Wet/Load/Mix/Flow does this no matter what values they are set to, and varied brush sizes yield the same result as well as whether I use a Wacom pen or a mouse. I reset all my brushes to the default and restarted my computer several times with no success. I'm using an iMac, OS Ventura 13.4.1 (c), Photoshop 2023 Version 24.7.0. This also happened with the previous version of Photoshop.

Also, I'm finding my directional brushes aren't working properly. They only go in one direction.

I checked several older versions and I see this behavior through them all. The Spacing setting on the brush seems the best way to control it. Open the Brush Settings and reduce Spacing in the Brush Tip Shape settings for a smoother line. If you check the preset brushes, you'll see a couple made for the Mixer Brush and these have the Spacing already reduced. For example, in the Wet Media brushes, you have "Kyle's Real Oils - 01" and this uses a Spacing of 3%

For directional brushes, double-check the Brush settings and verify the Shape Dynamics > Angle Jitter Control is set to "Direction"
