Mouse cursor gets stuck to guides

New Here ,
Nov 08, 2025 Nov 08, 2025

When hovering near a transformation handle that is close to a guide and performing a single click, the guide often becomes “stuck” to the cursor.

This issue has been observed in Photoshop 2026 (v27.0.0) and also appears in the 2025 versions.

Here’s a demo of the problem: https://files.catbox.moe/uxcfo9.mp4

Some PC specifications that may help reproduce the bug:

  • Windows 11 25H2
  • Ryzen 3600X
  • RTX 2060S (dual monitors)
  • 32GB RAM

I should note that this bug persists even after a clean Windows install on this setup. However, I was unable to reproduce it on another PC with different specs (i7-1260P, 16GB RAM). Perhaps it’s possible this issue is related to a specific hardware/software combination.

Or corrupt preferences, which can cause unpredictable behavior and are usually mistaken for application bugs.

Make sure to save out custom actions, brushes etc first, they will be wiped.

Preferences are prone to corruption because they are rewritten on every application exit. An irregular shutdown can corrupt them.

Tried reseting the preferences, reinstalling. No luck.

I also tried this: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/mouse-cursor-gets-stuck-in-transform-...

Again, no luck.

Hey, @angular_diamond8815. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. Thanks for sharing your findings.

After applying the guides on the canvas, press ALT + SHIFT + ; to Lock guides and check if the issue exists.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

@Sameer K

Locking the guides does prevent the bug from happening, but isn't that to be expected?
