Hi there. Very frustrated and trying to figure out why the new AI assistant will not allow me to select a single column or row. It keeps de-selecting the thing I directly clicked on and asking me what I want to do. Also, it is preventing me from zooming in on the canvas. On another note, I can no longer find the controls that allow the user to change the colors, transparancy, and gradiant in the gradiant panel. Please Adobe, when you make changes like this, why do you need to hide the menus?

I'm looking for an Ai Assistant and not finding one. Can you show us a screenshot of what you are seeing?
Is this Photoshop, and not Photoshop Elements? If so, what version?
Any additional information that might help us understand your issue?
Thanks.

I mean the "generative workspace" window. Sometimes - not all the time - it just pops up and interferes with what I'm doing. I have *tried* to use it but it never seems to intuitively fill what I want, so I'd rather just disable it. For example, I wanted to fill in a couch leg that got cut off from the picture, and "generative workspace" gave me an iguana.

Isn’t the Generative Workspace part of Photoshop (Beta) and not of Photoshop?
Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Properties, Options Bar, …) visible to illustrate?

Well, I pay for the monthly CC subscription. Several mos ago, Adobe forced through an update and now I have beta. I thought everyone has beta now. Not sure how to have Photoshop and not beta. Back in 2005, I had Photoshop on CD but I think those days are over?

That claim seems … peculiar.
For one thing Adobe updates and upgrades are optional (if you opted to auto-update that is your own choice), for another Beta apps are a specific point in the CC app.
If you want to install Photoshop 2025 install it from »All apps«.

My interface does not look like yours. But, I think I figured it out because I now see that there is a non beta version that I can specifically search for within CC. Just so you know though, all I had to do was try to open regular photoshop and the beta version was then downloaded to my PC as the preferred program. So yes, I consider that a forced update.

So you are suing the Single Column Marquee Tool? Then what happens exactly?
Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, Properties Panel, Contextual Task Bar, …) visible?

Me, selecting the single column marquee tool with "background layer" active.
The screen shot does not show my cursor after selecting the tool, but I've circled approximately where it is here:
After I click, this row is selected. Why?

Have you tried unchecking Preferences > Tools > »Show Tooltips« and »Show Rich Tooltips«?
If the Selection or any other operation does not correspond to the actual cursor position I would recommend all-purpose trouble-shooting.
Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

Ok, I will try this to see if the trouble shooting / reset helps.
