New install: "could not complete your request because of a program error"

Hi. I've installed PS for the first time on my laptop. For some jpeg files, I get the error message "could not complete your request because of a program error" when I tried to open them.

I've downgraded the system to 2 earlier versions, yet the issue is still here.

Any idea why and how to fix it? The free trial is about to expire and I would like to suscribe and get PS properly.
