New project PASTE size

I have been using the same computer (MAC) & the same photoshop for over a year. Multiple times a day.

I have never had the issue until yesterday.

I will find an image on the nternet, click COPY, then in PS hit Command + N & select copy from clipboard.

I hit Command + V to paste. It used to always use the correct work space for the incoming image to be pasted into. ***Now it is NOT even close to the right size project area.

I have never posted a request for help here, I hope this is posted in the right area. Thanks
