Oil Paint Tool shuts down program

Example:

• Working on an image
• click on filter
• click on oil paint tool
• curser turns to square
• screen freezes for 5 seconds
• photoshop shuts down
• I lose everything since last save

Could you please share your system info from Photoshop>Help>System Info?

Almost certainly a gpu issue. Try the steps here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-gpu-graphics-card.html#DisableGraphicsProcessor Updating the graphics driver or the card altogether will likely solve your problem.

Also, I'm not seeing any submitted crash reports from you in our system.
