P: Selection Tool and Patch Tool Slow To March The Ants macOS M1 BigSur

Hi - I have recently acquited a 24" iMac with the better M1 Chip and 16 GB r.a.m. In Photoshop it is taking quite a while before a selection registers. Anyone tell me if Adobe are onto this? I'm surprised considering the system is arguably one of the best.
