Painting on clipping layer creates transparent block

I recently upgraded to the latest version of photoshop.. big mistake. This created a number of issues, most of which are on other discussions. Long story short, I'm back to previous version and have managed to erradicate those bugs. Now I have a new issue. Well, 2 actually...

1. Painting on a layer set to clipping mask (ctrl,Alt G) simply removes all layer data from all layers and leaves a big block of transparency. Turn layer off and on again and the data is restored along with my new 'blindly painted' stroke. Clearly unusable.

2. Curves and sliders are now very sticky. Curves is unworkable and I have to use the value boxes after clicking a point on the curve. Clearly unusable.

After days of uninstalling, re installing, updating yada yada - these are not welcome bugs!

Anyone had these issues? Solution??

Seems we may be having similar issues. Hopefully yours has been resolved since posting but i'm having a heck of a time trying to work around this. Sure doesn't help when i've got deadlines. Lasso + colour fill or brushing in lines or colour and this blocky transparency shows up. SO frustrating. I may also try reverting to an older install but...paying for this, shouldnt have to. I'm working on a desktop Mac and have tried addtional things like restoring default workspace settings etc. processing power, memory and the like are all in good shape. I should say this isn't a constant thing but it crops up often enough that i'm in need of help. Other colleages are also experiencing this.

I'm getting the same issue.  Found this while looking for a solution.  Defintiely a program error.  I have twice your RAM and I still get this.  A friend of mine says he had to go to a lower version.
