I have no idea what I did, who I made hate me or if God himself is simply displeased with my trying to learn Photoshop. But for the life of me, I simply cannot make the Pen Tool work properly.
To explain, I am currently trying to wrap my text around in a circle shape. Sounds simple, except everytime I try to create a path to do this, it simply refuses to allow me to interact with the path ever again unless I am explicitly ONLY using the Pen tool or tools related to it in the closest way possible. I tried opening the paths palette and selecting the paths, I tried changing my preferences, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I even tried just switching from Pen to Text really fast. It shows me the fabled squiggly line that appears when you hover the Text tool over a path, for maybe 2 frames, then the path is gone and does not reappear until I again select the Pen tool.
I tried watching tutorials, I have checked out maybe a dozen. Every single one of these videos goes into incredible depth on exactly how the Pen tool works. Other videos go into wrapping text around a path. They even describe exactly what happens when you do certain things in certain ways. But as if it's the plague, or the Devil himself, they adamantly detest the act of saying what setting they enabled to keep the path visible and usable.
Please, I beg, I need help. I cannot handle this anymore, I am going to lose my mind for real. I can't accept that I spent 900 dollars on a GFX focussed setup, and spend an ever-rising amount on Photoshop itself for this to simply be the end.

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Paths, Options Bar, …) visible?
Seems to work here.

The screenshot that CP asked for will let us see what you are seeing. One possible reason is the you have a very large typesize and the text does not fit. I've seen this happen before. When it does, I delete the text layer and reset the Type tool (right-click the tool in the options bar and Reset Tool) before starting again. There could be other reasons.
