I've been running into this problem a lot lately in Photoshop and sometimes Illustrator. When I print to a PDF, it puts a light blue background. Its driving me nuts that I can't find the cause.

Are you perhaps using ICC profiles and an Absolute Colorimetric intent?

That's odd. Your monitor is calibrated properly, right? Have you tested other things or printed up things that aren't PDFs?
Are you allowing your printer to manage colors for you?
