One of the discouragiong things that happens when traveling is coming to a rather interesting spot I'd like to photograph only to have it occupied by a lot of people. I understand that there is a method by which I can, using a tripod, take 20 photos and merge them, and the resulting image will remove everyone who was moving. Can some be more explicit in explaning the procedure for making this happen?

Hi @mholbrook Jesus Ramirez does an excellent job explaining the method you are asking about: https://photoshoptrainingchannel.com/remove-tourists-stack-mode/

I'll help you figure this out. You're referring to the tool technique 'Merge to HDR pro' under Photoshop > File Menu > Automate.

You can load your stack of images with the same subject & there are some prerequisites for the best output. Check this to learn more: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/high-dynamic-range-images.html

You can choose to remove unwanted people referred to as 'ghosts' in the Merge to Pro workflow.

Let me know if this helps.
Thanks!

Kevin’s answer is the one you’re looking for. Merge to HDR will not help you with this.
