Photos appear darker when dragging into Photoshop or create new layers

Hi there, hope you are doing well.

I would appreciate advice as I have tried everything to resolve the issues. When dragging images or creating a new design in Photoshop, the images appear darker than the original. Please can I have feedback or help as this is affecting my work ...

You need to provide a lot more information.

Darker than what original, where does the original come from, what type of file is it? In which software are you viewing this original?

Does the file have an embedded profile, and which is it (sRGB, Adobe RGB etc)?

This is happening to all images, even when opening a photoshop file and taking images from there and dragging it though to another layer it switches to darker .. Im not sure how to explain it, can I take a screen recording or what do you suggest?

Hi @Rene322833907jl9 ,

Thanks for posting the video. @D Fosse is correct that we need to info to actually be able to help. Best guess right now if that you have 2 different color profiles between the two files and when you are copying the layer to the other file it's changing to fit the different color profile.

Reply back with the intial requested details and we can look into it further.

Actually, different color profiles isn't a problem. It will be converted correctly.

A missing color profile, however, is a different story. Then it will change.

@D Fosse  - Agreed unless color management polices were turned off for some reason.

@Rene322833907jl9 - do you have any adjustment layers, etc. applying above the layer you are copying that we can't see in your screen shot or video? Throwing that out there as well to guess.
