I have had issues in the past few days and cannot open any existing files of any type and also cannot create a new files. As soon as I try to open or create I get the dreaded "photoshop has encountered an error and needs to close"
report sent several times now so any help would be great.
Hi @Sue26823046qlb3 I see it's been a few days and you don't have any replies yet. Sorry about that! Are you still having trouble opening and creating new files with the latest version of Photoshop 2023 (24.0.0 Release)? Looking at the error message, this could be a memory (faulty RAM) error. Are your graphics drivers up to date? If you roll back to the previous version, are you stable? Does your system pass Photoshop's Compatibility Check (under the Help menu)?
You could try running Windows System File Checker (SFC). First, close all programs. From Task Manager, end any Adobe or Creative Cloud background processes.
SFC is a Windows utility that scans for corrupted Windows system files. If it finds a problem, it will try to replace the problematic system files from a cached version that’s on the PC.
In the search box on the taskbar, type command prompt, press and hold (or right-click) Command Prompt, then select Run as administrator > Yes.
At the command prompt, type sfc /scannow (Scanning will take a few minutes.)
If SFC finds corrupted files and replaces them, restart your PC and check if the issue persists.
Let us know what else you've tried and if you are still having difficulties!
