Photoshop 2022: Can't dismiss window that popped up that I don't need

Hey Adobe! I just stumbled across this great idea. When you design a window, you could put an X in the upper-right corner so users can click on that and the window goes away! So simple! Now, why can't you do that? It's only been a windows standard for, what, 40 years?

If anyone has figured out the set of spells and acrobatics required to dismiss annoying windows in Photoshop without having to shut down and start over, I'd like to hear about it.

Have you tried pressing the Esc key while the window is in focus?
