Photoshop 2023 (24.7.0) painting cursor problem

MacBook Pro running Ventura 13.5

I set my cursor preference to normal brush tip but I get the precise tip. So frustrating.

I've tried resetting my preferences and resetting my essentials.

Any ideas? Thank you in advance!!

No, cap locks are not on.

hmm... I always set mine to full size and show crosshair. Are all of your other icons showing up correctly? Have you tried another setting?

Same problem here which is 'sort of' fixed in 25.1 but the precise cursor still disappears when using quick mask.
