We have this marketing person running CC PS 25.12.0 on a Mac Studio with 32 GB RAM and macOS Sonoma 14.7.1. She gets these hang ups after doing one or some actions.
From designer: "my photoshop isn't working again. I am unable to do any action after I open the application and make one more, and then after that it just won't do anything - it doesnt freeze, it just wont let me click on anything, even in the finder bar at the top, it wont let me close out of the program either - I have to keep force quitting out of the app."
I have totally uninstalled CC and reinstalled from scratch. She has no settings to save so there are preferences introduced back in.
Today I just did the same thing again - uninstall/reinstall. And she is working again. She is now running PS 2025 version.
This all seemed to happen after I upgraded the Mac to 14.7.1 Sonoma in order for her to use the latest version of PS. Running out of ideas here. Any thoughts?

Hi @jhorn10162018,
Thanks for sharing the details. It sounds like quite a frustrating issue for your colleague. Based on what you described, it might be related to the system resources or third-party plugins. Here are a few things you can try to further isolate and resolve the issue:
1. If she uses any third-party plugins in Photoshop, disable them temporarily to see if the issue persists.
2. Try running the app in Safe Mode (Mac) and see if she is still having trouble with the lag
3. Test another user account on the Mac and test Photoshop there. This can help determine if the issue is specific to her user profile.
4. Review any background apps or system extensions (e.g., antivirus, file syncing tools) that might interfere with Photoshop. Temporarily disable them to test.
If none of these solutions address the problem, please share more details, such as system information, the location where files are stored (locally, network, or externally), and the steps to reproduce the issue.
Let us know how it goes!
Best,
Anshul Saini

Thanks for the information. I did notice that other people in her group are not having the same issues. I did upgrade their Mac's to Sonoma as well. But they are not having the same problems with PS. Stay tuned!

I understand how challenging it must be for your colleague to experience these recurring issues, especially when others in the team aren’t facing the same problem. Let’s try to get this sorted!
Since updates often address compatibility and performance issues, I recommend:
1. Updating macOS to Sonoma 14.7.2 (if not already updated).
2. Updating Photoshop to version 26.2.
If the issue persists after updating, please revisit the steps shared earlier:
• Test Photoshop in Safe Mode to rule out interference from other software.
• Use another user account on the Mac to check if the issue is profile-specific.
• Temporarily disable any background apps, antivirus, or extensions that could be conflicting.
Please let us know how it goes for your colleague after trying these steps. We’re here to help further if needed!
Best,
Anshul Saini
