Photoshop 2025 cropping raw CR3 files while opening.

Photoshop opens CR3 raw files cropped. I have browsed the web and havent found a single simple solution. I have tried settings and used camera settings in default.

The only work around is saving as tiff and then opening to get the full image.

Is there a way to prevent camera raw from automatically cropping my raw images when I open them directly in photoshop?

I suspect the issue lies in the workflow settings in ACR, as RAW files need to pass through Adobe Camera Raw before opening in Photoshop. Please check that the option Resize to Fit is not enabled in the Workflow settings.

It sounds like you're dealing with an annoying issue. When Photoshop opens CR3 raw files cropped, it’s usually because the crop is embedded in the RAW file’s metadata—often from in-camera settings. Even if you reset Camera Raw settings, Photoshop may still apply that embedded crop automatically.

One workaround is to manually remove the crop in Adobe Camera Raw. After opening the CR3 file, go to the Crop Tool (press C), then right-click and choose Reset Crop. This should reveal the full image. You can also disable this behavior by going to Camera Raw Preferences > General and unchecking “Use Crop from Camera” if that option is available.

Interestingly, when working with raw files in different apps, like the [removed by moderator] this issue doesn’t occur because they don’t read the same crop metadata. It seems to be specific to how Adobe handles raw data.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I have left the image size option unchecked.

When I open crop settings  and right click - I can choose as "as shot" but it still satyas cropped.

I dont see the option " Use crop from camera" under general.

Adobe needs to fix this issue.
